This has been a great week! I took the entire week off work and flew to Washington last Saturday - returning to Colorado late Thursday night. Monday and Tuesday I went to the beach with my sister's family and Wednesday we celebrated my dad's 66th birthday. Will missed out on all the fun since he stayed home in Denver.
Yesterday was my birthday and it was a blast! First thing, Will and I went to the Cherry Creek Farmer's Market and ate breakfast burritos and coconut macaroons (and bought corn, tomatoes and this awesome specialty salsa). Afterwards we needed to burn off that breakfast so we went hiking in Boulder.
This picture was taken near the trailhead at
the beginning of the hike:
This hike had lots of meadow ... and rocks!
Will poses very gracefully....
I'm glad we wore really good shoes because
this is probably the rockiest hike I've ever been on!
See at several points it looked like this:
I almost tripped a couple times.
The view looking over Boulder.
For dinner, Will took me to the Melting Pot in Littleton (YUM!)
We didn't take any photos at dinner, but this was on the way to the restaurant.
Will got me a DQ strawberry cheesequake ice cream cake -
but it wouldn't thaw so we microwaved it.
This picture was taken afterward - it looks melty but it was really good!
Thanks to everyone for my birthday gifts! Here are a few:
My parents got me a desperately needed griddle
And Will's parents got me a creme brulee torch/set
I have been talking about trying to make creme brulee forever!
And to burn off all the food gifts I received,
my husband was kind enough to encourage exercise.
He got me running shoes and Shannon (sister in-law) got me the awesome
Nike + iPod running tracker I was looking at.
My new running shoes
And Will also got me the Wii Fit - how kind of him.
It was a great great birthday! Thanks to all for the birthday wishes! And thanks to my wonderful husband Will for getting the entire weekend off work for my birthday. I'm sorry I haven't blogged in forever - I really haven't taken many pictures since our Disneyland trip. Not much has happened - time has really been flying by! I can't believe today is the official first day of Summer. Since I last posted, Will got in a minor car accident - so he had to use my car while his was being fixed ... for three weeks! Since he works most weekends, I learned to ride my bike for transportation - and the fine skill of walking to get where I want to go! It was actually nice by the end. I was annoyed in the beginning - but by the 3rd weekend I was starting to enjoy it. But now we have both cars and all is normal again.
We're excited for Summer and all the fun activities. Hiking and camping are on our list this summer - as well as another trip to Washington in August.
And also - HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the fathers out there - especially our own! Happy Father's Day, Dad!
