Another Holiday Photo

Remember this photo? Yeah, this year's photo for my work holiday party turned out much better. The photographer tried to "pose us" the same as last year, and I definitely stopped him and asked him if we could do something more "non-traditional". So yep, we just stood there. Will looks mediocrely happy, but still - a much better photo.

PS Do you like my new hair? I got it cut and colored the day before this photo was taken. Definitely more caramel-y colored.

House Photos

Here are some photos of our house. Don't judge the fact that there are still random boxes and crap everywhere - and that I'm still putting stuff away 2 weeks later. In my defense, I'm waiting for some shelving to be installed.

So far we have gotten a new roof, garage door operator, the garage door fixed, new washer and dryer, and new electric hook-up stuff in the laundry room (for some reason there was hookups for a stove and not a dryer down there) - oh and of course, a new shovel to shovel the driveway!

We were super lucky to be able to move into our house 2 days before the snow hit. I should say, our house is a lot prettier covered in fresh snow.

It will be even better next winter when we have our pellet stove and our new energy efficient windows that will hopefully warm up the open areas. : )

Our main living room/tv area. The square hole is where a future pellet stove insert will be. This room gets rather cold at night, since that window sucks. New windows are on definitely on the list. We should also be putting up a mantle on the brick wall. That is also the door to the garage on the left.
From the front door entrance. Its an open floor plan for the Kitchen/TV Room/Living Room/Dining Area.

Kitchen
Dining Area - our new table, covered in crap of course.
Upstairs hallway to 3 bedrooms and a full bathroom (plus the bath in the master)
Front Door/Hallway view

To "the dungeon" ... jk ... I just should've had the downstairs lights on. Narrow stairway though. Luckily the back door is right behind me in this photo, otherwise no furniture could get downstairs!
Basement main area. Don't mind the disassembled futon.
My sewing area and another bathroom.
Downstairs hallway. 2 bedrooms and the laundry room.
Again, my sewing area.
Guest bedroom # 1
Guest bedroom # 2 (not put together yet, obviously)
Laundry Room/Furnace area (unfinished)
And our back patio. Don't judge the backyard. Its a complete mess. Lots of landscaping to be done.
And just for fun, Will and me on Christmas morning at his parent's house, which is now only 2 minutes away - instead of 30 minutes!
We have lots and lots of bare walls. We will definitely be needing some things to make this home "more cozy", but for now, we are enjoying being homeowners. : )

Ode to Abby

I am going to preface this post by saying, this is going to humiliate my husband.

Truth...

I am a cat person. Since my eighth birthday when I got home from swimming lessons and my Grandma Jessie had a kitten waiting for me I have loved cats. Really, I have only had two monumental cats in my life. Sassy (the cat my grandma got me) and Abby. We had Sassy 11 years but she was mainly an outdoor cat (she went missing, and after looking long and hard for her - we still don't know whatever happened to her). Abby is now my first indoor cat - and I guess I am so fascinated by her (to my husband's dismay) because I've never had an indoor cat before so I've never really "watched" what cats spend their time doing - and I think its really funny sometimes. Yes, I know I'm weird. Will and I have had Abby since just after we were married. I should say that I do like dogs too (a lot actually) ... but they take a lot more work. I realized how weird I am when went through my cell phone and realized that 90% of the photos were photos of the cat. I tend to take pictures of the cat doing funny things and I send them to Will while he's at work. Kinda ridiculous ... I'm sure that'll change when we have kids - but for now Abby cracks us up (probably me more than Will though).

My thoughts were, what better way to document the cat than on my blog?! Haha....

This one photo is ridiculous, not because of the cat, but because of our room. When we moved - we did it very quickly so I just threw all my clothes in trash bags and when we got to the new place I just dumped them all out. I have yet to put them away. That was "my job" today according to Will, but here I am, blogging about the cat instead.

I spy with my two eyes a cat ... can you find her?
And please also notice the "I Love My Cat" pillowcase that my mom just made and sent me! My mom has always humored my love for cats - more recently with cat pillowcases and holiday cat towels.
In our new basement.
My dad is actually going to help us make bigger window sills when he comes out this summer. For what reason? So the cat has more room to lounge in the windows. Hahaha!

She lays on her back by choice. When she does, we call her our slutty cat...
Abby also thinks she is entitled to anything in a bowl.

My nephew - and he is allergic to cats - but he kept saying "she's SO soft!"

And now that I feel completely ridiculous, here is a video:

I should also mention, I don't just love cats - I particularly love black cats (or in Abby's case, Tuxedo cats). Just for the record.

Thank you to all who endured this post, but it had to be done - especially since my camera was filled up with Abby photos and video and people are requesting photos of the house, so those are to come next.
