Fall is Here

This weekend Will and I took the opportunity to head to the mountains to see the fall leaves in all their glory. I saw this "Fall Foliage Outlook" on 9News a few weeks ago and was greatly anticipating seeing the fall colors. Last year it seems we went too late in the season - and this year I want to be able to go a couple times. So here we were in "peak season" and I was greatly excited!!

So we went to Estes Park and, don't get me wrong, it was beautiful - BUT..... there were too many pine trees (too green)! Last year we were near Conifer and the Aspen trees were SO yellow and orange! It was so pretty in Estes, and literally the perfect fall day (crisp and cool but sunny) but I am definitely needing to head to Conifer to see more aspens - that or maybe it was too early in the season. Either way, it was still beautiful and definitely felt like Fall - plus it was lots of fun!

Estes Park:
You'll notice in the next two photos that Will and I decided to match : )
Very pretty colors
Okay, seriously, these cookies were to die for!
Even at $2.25 a piece they were sooooo good.
(We also ate lunch at Penelope's burger joint - also very
yummy if you're headed to Estes)
mmmm Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.
Next time Will & I will be smarter and get two DIFFERENT kinds
so we can split and share. We both chose the same cookie for some reason.
mmmmm : )
We seem to have started a fall tradition of taking self-timer photos in the mountains.
This is our photo from last year (a few months pre-wedding I might add):
The Fall Photo is the reason we decided to match.
This years photos:

I am so stoked for Halloween. I had already updated our Netflix queue with The Witches (from the Ronald Dahl book - that Will has never heard of!), Halloween Town, Casper, The Adams Family movies, and of course we own Hocus Pocus so I'll be watching that one a few times. Notice all these movies are non-scary movies? Yeah, I don't like scary Halloween movies. Never have.

This was a crazy weather week - and Fall came QUICK this year. I think this week we averaged in the 40's and 50's most of the week when Monday it was in the 80's. The HOA of our building complex didn't even turn the boiler on for the building until Thursday when it had been cold all week! Our thermostats don't work without the boiler on - and apparently everyone in the building was annoyed. We now have heat, thankfully : )

Will and I also went to Ross this weekend where I learned that Ross is where I need to buy my holiday decorations! So much cheaper than Target and they totally work just as well! Our apartment is already decked out (although I'd like a fall flower arrangement for the table) and it's not even October yet!

Will looking festive in orange, and holding a black cat too!
This is one of my Ross finds that will last through Thanksgiving!
Pretty wreath I also got at Ross - that I don't have a place to hang. Whoops.
This is something my roommate Morghen and I had in our apartment last year.
It looks crappy with the flash on it.
This is more what it looks like - but without the flash
my camera makes everything all blurry.
Abby was kinda weirded out by it.
Aw - Halloween : )
HAPPY FALL EVERYONE!

More Than We Bargained For

Will & I decided we should do a puzzle together. We stood for several minutes at Target looking for the perfect one. We didn't want too easy of one, and we didn't want a super-dooper hard one - but it looks like we ended up with the latter without realizing it!

I am determined to finish this puzzle. Especially since it is taking up our kitchen table!! Honestly, we should've started with a 500 piece puzzle - but 1500 pieces sounded good.
We started it last night (Saturday) and this is as far as we got.
Pretty much just flipping all the pieces over.
Tonight we got a good chunk of the edges done.
It literally is the exact width of our table and we have
to be carefully not to move it even a half inch.
This is the reason I would like to finish the puzzle within the week
Dinner on top of puzzle pieces is NOT fun.
I'm sure this is exactly what I need to be doing on top of work, school, knitting class, Church responsibilities, taking up running again and everything else - trying to finish a dang puzzle!!

It's fun though - it's time Will and I get to just spend together without any technology present (besides the radio). I am thoroughly enjoying it - next time we might just try a 500 piece (if we get through this one first).

We hope you have a great week!!
